As stated in “ACE Philosophy” we consider therapy to be an essential part of the healthy growth of our students. We hope that therapy can help them feel more comfortable with who they are and who they can become, as well as help them start to understand the situation they live in and the options outside of the favela. One reason that so many kids turn to drug trafficking is because it is simply seen as another job in the community, and not necessarily a negative lifestyle. Having a therapist to help kids realise that joining the gangs is not “just another job” and that there are other opportunities, will be an invaluable addition to the community centre.
